Top-Class scientific lectures and lively discussions in Heidelberg
Four times a year, the “Leica Scientific Forum – Advances in Life Science” offers top-class lectures, with eminently respectable speakers in the field of medicine like Noble prize winner Professor Dr. Erwin Neher from the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, who was guest speaker at the last Forum this year on December 5. The Forum – which takes place in Heidelberg (Communication Center, DKFZ) - will be continued in March 2007 with Prof. Hiroaki Kitano from Tokio, Japan.
With the course of lectures “Leica Scientific Forum – Advances in Life Science”, which started in 2005, Leica Microsystems created a distinguished platform for an international exchange between experts and students. The lectures strengthen the communication and discussion of latest scientific results and provide the students with know-how that they will not learn anywhere else.

With the course of lectures “Leica Scientific Forum – Advances in Life Science”, which started in 2005, Leica Microsystems created a distinguished platform for an international exchange between experts and students. The lectures strengthen the communication and discussion of latest scientific results and provide the students with know-how that they will not learn anywhere else.
Under the working title “A Biophysical Dissection of Neurotransmitter Release”, Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher from the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen and Noble prize winner held the last lecture in 2006 on December 5. The students and all other attendees were highly impressed when Prof. Neher talked about the control of transmitter release by Ca++ and camp, rate limiting steps in vesicle recruitment and the mechanisms of modulation of neurotransmitter release.
Beneath the events in Heidelberg, for 2007 Leica Microsystems also prepares events in Paris in London, the exact dates have to been fixed yet. For Heidelberg the upcoming lectures are already certain and should be marked in the calendar:
